Keyword research can be said the beginning or even foundation of SEO. Any Hong Kong based small business would have an idea for what keywords they need to rank for at the top of Google’s and Yahoo’s search results. The simple reason is that the business owners believe people would search for those keywords when they are to look for their business (including services or products). For example, the main keyword could be “best law firm in Hong Kong” for a law service business, or “HK number one furniture” for a furniture company.
Even the industry knowledge is upmost important, any SEO veteran and/or responsible SEO company in Hong Kong would tell you that simply speculating which keyword to rank for your complicated SEO campaign is not ideal and isn’t going to take you far for getting the most customers for your business. Even as a local business in Hong Kong, you should be relying on various SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Ubersuggest, Google Keyword Planner, etc. The latter two tools are free of charge when you use them. All the tools are more than capable to assist you in getting exact information on each given keyword.
Once you have spent the time and effort to figure out the SEO keywords, you should have created a list of keywords. Now it is time to optimize the pages for your target keywords. The process is like this: You are able to distinguish the keywords that best speak to your business. In these keywords you believe they have enough search volume. You should take one more step to seize an opportunity and build the catchphrases around the keywords in your list for your site. Work on each page with this approach.
Don’t forget to optimize the headings i.e. H1, H2, etc. If for some reasons one of your product page fits into the category of local, it may make sense to insert the local words such as Hong Kong, Wan Chai, Tsim Sha Tsui, etc into the headings. Make sure you don’t duplicate all your H1, H2, H3, etc on the same page and among all the pages with exactly the same heading text. Optimize each page’s page title and meta description because these are the text that people will see when searching on Google’s and Yahoo’s search results pages. Another place for keywords is to insert your keywords in the page URLs.
Then it is the copy of your main content. It may depend on the nature of your Hong Kong business and your service/product. For certain niches, it may look very natural to write professionally and show your expertise in blog article format. It is best that you can write. But if you can’t write that is not a problem. These days you may outsource this copywriting work to a content agency or some content writers who you may find on Upwork (one of the freelancing sites).
