The first-ever dedicated ‘Mentor Awards’ for UK Chefs will be part of the inaugural H&C EXPO event being held at the iconic Celtic Manor Resort in July.
The Mentor Awards, spanning ten categories, have been launched to recognise individuals who have helped to train, nurture and develop Chefs across the UK hospitality and catering industry.
Chefs from across all sectors of our industry will be recognised at the Mentor Awards.
To nominate a Chef, individuals and companies will need to complete an application form, which will be reviewed by an expert panel of independent judges.
Nominees will need to have a strong track record of mentoring Chefs through exceptional training, guidance and ongoing personal development.
The Mentor Awards categories are:
- Best Restaurant Chef Mentor
- Best Hotel Chef Mentor
- Best Contract Catering Chef Mentor
- Best Pub & Bar Chef Mentor
- Best School Chef Mentor
- Best University Chef Mentor
- Best Care Home Chef Mentor
- Best Healthcare Chef Mentor
- Chef Mentor Rising Star
- The Peter Hazard award for outstanding achievement
Cyrus Todiwala OBE, chair of the judging panel, said:
There are so many Chefs who, sometimes behind the scenes, work tirelessly to train and develop young people in our industry.
“The Mentor Awards are unique in recognising these brilliant people who do so much for our industry.
“It’s also fantastic that the special ‘Peter Hazzard’ Mentor award has been named after an exemplary individual who dedicated so much of his life to the development of Chefs.
“The Mentor Awards will span the whole of our great industry, from education establishments right the way through to mainstream hospitality venues.
“We will be looking to recognise individuals who truly go above and beyond in the pursuit of excellence in mentoring. These people are crucial to the growth and development of our industry.”
Mark Harris, Event Director, H&C EXPO, added:
We are extremely pleased to launch the ‘Chef Mentor Awards’ at H&C EXPO. The whole event is focussed very closely on the future of our industry and, without the exceptional mentors who work across our industry, so many people wouldn’t have enjoyed the success that they have.
“These mentors are the lifeblood of our industry and do some much to nurture the talent of today and tomorrow. We are delighted to be able to recognise them in such a way.”
