The inaugural Cleaner Products ‘Chefs Challenge’ took place last week on 11th September at the Croham Hurst Golf Club, Croydon. The event was held to select two chefs to represent Cleaner Products in the H&C EXPO golf charity day at the Celtic Manor next year.
The winner of the challenge was David Garrard, head chef at Croham Hurst, perhaps it was his local knowledge that brought him in just ahead of Chef Ben Mellor.
Both David and Ben will join Nathan Reilly and Steve Hodges to make up the Cleaner Products 4 ball at the H&C EXPO golf charity day at the Celtic Manor next year.
Steve Hodges, Finance Director, Cleaner Products commented:
“It’s great to have David and Ben in our dream team for the Celtic Manor we now have time to practice together to fine tune our game and get ready for the challenges to come.”
David Garrard is the first winner of the ‘Chefs Challenge’ and will have his name engraved onto the Cleaner Products ‘Challenge Shield’.
Nathan Reilly, Managing Director, Cleaner Products congratulated David Garrard and said:
“We are delighted for David on being the first name on our shield, David is a fine golfer and fully deserves his place in our team.
We are also excited to have Ben Mellor, head chef at Blandford Comptoir restaurant, London on our team, a brilliant golfer who will add his experience and winning mentality to the Cleaner Products team.”
The longest drive of the day was won by Ben Mellor with a staggering drive of 324 yards. The longest drive was on the 18th which is 430 yards and Ben only required a wedge onto the green. We all knew that Ben was a long hitter but his drive was an absolute corker.
The nearest the pin challenge for the day was on the 5th hole par 3 which is a tough raised green and David Garrard walked away with this trophy too, David has a superb touch around the greens and his short game is formidable.
Pete Reilly, CEO, Cleaner Products said:
“The event was an excellent day for all those that took part and we were delighted that two of the organisers of the H&C EXPO event, Denis and James Sheehan could join us.
We were also honoured that restaurant industry legend John Davey joined us, John a non-golfer was great company and very kindly drove a buggy for us. John also awarded the Cleaner Products ‘Top Golf Chef’ trophy to the winner.”
The H&C EXPO Charity Golf Day tales place at the Celtic Manor on 16th July 2018, part of the three day H&C EXPO event
